Groups & Workshops

1-2-3 MAGIC!!!

The 1-2-3 Magic Group is an interactive, discussion oriented workshop to help parents gain the tools they need to manage their children's individual needs in a nurturing but consistent and firm manner. 1-2-3 Magic is well documented as a highly successful intervention technique to decrease negative behaviors and increase positive behaviors in children and adolescents.

PROMOTING RESILIENCY IN SURVIVORS OF CHILDHOOD CANCER

The goal of the Resiliency Group is to teach survivors of childhood cancer and their families to develop and effectively use resilience skills (i.e., how to "bounce back") and focus on their personal strengths. The single workshop incorporates information provided by the American Psychological Association's Public Education Campaign, and the ongoing group builds on that information and goes into more depth on helping children and adolescents build their personal strengths.

CHILDREN FROM HIGH CONFLICT AND/OR DIVORCED FAMILIES

This group for elementary school children (ages 6-10) implements the theory-based curriculum designed by Vivian Roseby, Ph.D., and Janet Johnston, Ph.D. (developed at the Judith Wallerstein Center for the Family in Transition) to treat children from high-conflict or violent families. Children will learn to identify and discuss their feelings, take perspectives, role-play familiar household conflicts, and build coping skills.
